A mysterious monolith awakens the mind of a distant ancestor. Another greets astronauts when they finally get to the moon. And a third waits in orbit around Jupiter for humankind to arrive to transcend its next perceived limits.

In the year 2001, a team of astronauts is sent to Jupiter to investigate the appearance of a radio transmission. When the on-board computer begins to malfunction, the surviving member of the team aborts the mission and is hurtled into the unknown.

Based on "The Sentinel" a short story by Arthur C. Clarke, 2001: A Space Odyssey is a visual experience that beautifully maps a provocative history of human evolution. From the dawn-of-man discovery of the deadly power in crude weapons, to the metaphysical birth of the Star Child at the end of the film, 2001. . . grabs you by your gray cells, shakes you up and makes you really think.

What do the black, rectangular alien monoliths mean? What really happens to the "hero" David Bowman? And what is the meaning of the Star Child?

No matter what personal spin you put on it, Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey presents a vision of the "paradigm shift". That's what the nanocorp is about for us a Sohodojo.
