02 February 2002, Raleigh NC USA - Sohodojo attended and exhibited at East Carolina University's "Curing the Future: Issues and Strategies in Remaking Tobacco-Dependent Communities in North Carolina", a two-day rural economic development conference sponsored by the Golden LEAF Foundation. The conference took place February 28th and March 1st at the Pitt County Agriculture Center in Greenville, North Carolina. "Sohodojo did stakeholder development for our demonstration project to launch the Squirrelfeeders.com Small Is Good Business Web," said Sohodojo co-founder Timlynn Babitsky, "North Carolina faces some dramatic challenges to reinvent its rural economy as we move beyond our tobacco roots. Sohodojo intends to contribute to this necessary transition in our home state." In addition to promoting its research and business development agenda, Sohodojo distributed information to conference attendees about its Montana partner, the North American Rural Futures Institute, the Earthaven Ecovillage, Communities of the Future Network.
